Sapphire Pavilion begins with familiar visual cues—peacock, bamboo, fans for the four directions, Chinese numerals, ornamental florals, dragon-inspired forms and expressive Jokers—then reframes them through modern color.,The imagery is our interpretation of an imagined gathering pavilion: a meeting of Modern Heritage, Composed Gathering and Lasting Presence rather than a claim about a specific historic tradition.
Fan-shaped direction tiles, bamboo lines, peacock color and ornamental characters create distinct landmarks across the set. Saturated blues give the faces a clear, collected frame.
Marbled sapphire backs bring depth to the table, while blue and wine-toned edge layers become visible in profile. This back is fixed to the Sapphire Pavilion face artwork shown.
